Last week we talked about members of terrorist groups that blend in with the rest of the population. Last September there was a young man in Germany that was arrested for transporting chemicals to Pakistan. Here is the article.

Terrorism isn't just a group of disgruntled people, but is an ideology which any body can believe in and act upon it. This is why there are a growing number of westerners in its ranks today.

This article seems to stress that young Germans who become Islamic extremist, like Fritz Gelowicz, come from dysfunctional homes. It is kind of freaky to realize that someone would want to become a terrorist and then fight against their native land. It's hard to imagine that there would be so much hate and mistreatment to cause someone to want to kill mass numbers of their own people. I think that terrorist use primarily use hate to get people to commit terrorist acts for them. terrorist find people who have a grievances and make those grievances seem bigger so those people feel like they are justified in attacking out against others. It is really scary.

It seems that using Westerners to carry out terrorist missions might be a very effective tactic for radical Islamic terrorists. These people are rarely suspected by their own "countrymen," as the article explains, because there is the thought that they would never turn against their own. Furthermore, they do not fit the stereotype of what many may seem as the "typical" radical Islamic terrorist. It is important for people to realize that anyone that develops the passion for a certain ideology is capable of committing terrorist acts if it seems necessary. Terrorism, as we have discussed before, if a method and thus can be used by any culture, race, or religion.
